With the intersection of filmmaking and the ninja world as the theme, it presents a unique studio scene. Players can build various shooting scenes, such as martial arts special effects areas, mini studios and director's studios, and even simulate the real filming process through movable backgrounds, rotating cameras and other elements. This highly customizable gameplay allows players to freely combine different modules to create their own new chapter of Ninjago City.

Overview of Ninjago City Workshop
Ninjago City Workshop is another important member of the LEGO Ninjago series, representing the deep integration of LEGO and the popular IP Ninjago. This kit is a continuation of the Ninjago City series. Although its size is relatively small, it is still a very outstanding work in terms of details and exquisite gameplay.
As an important line of LEGO, the Ninjago City series has launched several impressive large kits, such as "Ninjago City" and "Ninjago City Gardens". These kits cleverly combine LEGO's city design with ninja elements to create a vibrant virtual city landscape. In contrast, the Ninjago City workshop focuses more on mecha elements and the construction of workshops. It not only adds a new look to the city, but also continues the high-level design of the Ninjago series.
Design Concept
The design of Ninjago City Workshop is inspired by the mechanical and combat elements in the Ninjago world, especially the iconic element of mecha. In order to distinguish this kit from other Ninjago City series kits, LEGO designers have added many interactive functions to the design, especially the mobility of the mecha platform. In addition, the construction of Ninjago City Workshop also pays great attention to fine details and interactivity, which makes it a great improvement in the player's operating experience compared with the previous large city kits.
LEGO has given more freedom and creative space to the design of this kit, striving to allow players to feel the collision of the sense of technology and ninja elements of the Ninjago world during the construction process.
Design highlights
1. Mech platform
One of the core design elements of the Ninjago City workshop is the mech platform. This platform is not only a stage for the mech display, but also the key to the interactivity and fun of the entire kit. By rotating the gears on the platform, players can move the platform on the horizontal plane and connect with other parts. This design not only enhances the interactivity of the construction process, but also makes the whole scene more vivid and vibrant.
The construction process of the platform is very meticulous, from the basic mechanical structure to the complex rotation mechanism, each part reveals the designer's attention to detail. As the mech is completed, players can "unlock" it from the platform and place it in other positions to show its unique posture and details. This design not only increases the fun of building, but also makes the entire workshop look full of dynamics.
The rotating design of the mech platform cleverly combines Lego's traditional gear system with the latest engineering design. Although its function seems simple, it makes the entire construction process full of challenges and a sense of accomplishment through precise construction and adjustment.
2. Urban waters and green design
Similar to the previous Ninjago City series kits, the Ninjago City workshop also uses water elements to express the unique style of the city. The water part of the kit uses a combination of green tiles and dark green tones, presenting a rich and natural scene. This design breaks through the traditional blue waters, making the entire city more three-dimensional and visually impactful.
The details of the water design are very good. The matching effect of green tiles not only enhances the expressiveness of the natural scenery, but also makes every corner of the city layout full of vitality. Although this kit is simpler in the design of the water than the previous "Ninjago City Gardens", it creates a unique sense of natural landscape in a limited space, giving people a small and exquisite impression.
Compared with the early works, the construction of the water is more compact and stable. This simplification of design actually provides more possibilities for the entire city layout, while also avoiding the fragility caused by overly complex structures. Although the overall water design lacks some groves and details, its stability and aesthetics have been improved.
3. Creative parts and sticker details
The creative parts in the Ninjago City workshop are another highlight. The designer used many clever parts to express different elements, including the detailed construction of the mecha platform, the miniature excavator shovel on the small roof, and the exquisite garden design. These parts not only make the entire kit more visually rich, but also provide Lego players with great creative space.
In addition, the stickers in the kit are also very distinctive. Stickers are not only decorations, but also a tribute to the history of the Ninjago world. Many stickers are printed with classic elements and symbols in the history of Ninjago. These symbols are not only iconic elements of loyal fans, but also one of the design highlights of the entire kit. Whenever players stick these stickers to the corresponding places, they seem to feel the pulse of Ninjago's history.
Minifigures
The minifigure selection has always been a highlight of Ninjago sets, but this one is a bit lackluster. While there are four new characters from the TV series, the overall minifigure selection is a bit monotonous compared to past sets. While I don't expect this small set to have as many characters as the Ninjagos, it might be more appealing to add more interesting civilian characters or other ninjas.
In addition, the civilian characters in the old sets usually come with some new costumes, and this time the civilian minifigures feel a bit too generic, almost all LEGO City parts. In contrast, the old version of the Ninjago City series had more novelties in the civilian character design, which may be a big shortcoming of this set.
1. Zayn and Pixel: New Looks for Classic Characters
Let's start with two classic characters, first Zayn and Pixel, two minifigures that were first introduced in 2025, although they are not exclusive. We have already seen these two characters in the January and March Ninjago sets, and this new version brings a little change to them.
This version of Zayn is special because he is from the January 2025 Ninja Costume Set, and he was previously an exclusive character in that $10 set. Now, Zayn's face print has been replaced with the Detective Zayn design, which has also appeared in multiple sets, giving Zayn more personality. His chest design is very cool, with a bare upper body and metallic silver decoration, paired with blue energy pipes, which makes people feel very futuristic. Although this version of Zayn is no longer exclusive, his design is definitely a highlight.
And Pixel's design is also a surprise. Pixel's new look is very attractive, especially in the purple color scheme of the torso, which uses a combination of dark and light purple with a red Samurai X symbol. Her body design reflects her characteristics as a robot without the need for armor, and there are even details such as a small fan on her back, which makes people feel the delicate design sense.
2. Casual version of Harumi and Twitchy Tim: the return of classic characters
Next, we ushered in the return of two classic characters - Harumi and Twitchy Tim. As a popular character among Ninjago fans, Harumi finally launched her casual version mini doll in the 2025 series. This mini doll has been one of the most anticipated characters by fans since its debut in 2018.
Harumi's mini doll is very close to the princess costume she wears in the show. Although there is no leg printing, her torso and hair accessories completely restore her original shape. It is worth mentioning that Harumi's facial printing adopts a brand new design, giving her an angry and a gentle alternative face, which is very consistent with her character transformation in the play.
The appearance of Twitchy Tim also fills another vacancy in the Ninjago mini doll. Although he is not everyone's favorite, his return is undoubtedly exciting. His design is highly consistent with the show, especially his torso printing and hair accessories, which are perfectly matched with the show.
3. The debut of new characters: Doraemon and Dr Loro
The most exciting part is the debut of brand new characters! We finally have two new characters from Ninjago Dragons Rising - Doraemon and Dr Loro. These characters are new additions to the first season of 2025, injecting new vitality into the Ninjago series.
The addition of the character Doraemon brought us an unexpected surprise. This villain was originally a common face in the Ninjago world, but this time they designed a brand new minifigure for him. Doraemon's design is very unique, and his glittering purple decorations set him apart from other characters. Although LEGO has never done such complex printing in minifigures, they have successfully presented the unique temperament of this character through clever design.
And the design of Dr Loro is equally exciting. The debut of this character means the expansion of the Ninjago world, and fans can finally see more villains in toys, adding more interactivity and creativity to the Ninjago city.
Building experience
1.Mecha
Mecha is a highlight of the set. Many game features and additional parts of the set are combined to form the model. This is LEGO's first customizable model with a skeleton, which lets you choose which armor to put where. In reality, there are very few customization options, but it's fun to use the game function to combine the mechs into an overall model.
This mech also has a lot of potential for customization using elements of previous mechs. So if you're a die-hard collector of LEGO NINJAGO mechs, this mech should feel familiar to you, even though it's new. The elbow joints, knee joints, and rotation capabilities of this mech make it one of LEGO's best mechs in recent times. In addition, it has iconic customizability.
2.Garage
The garage part of the LEGO NINJAGO City Workshop is located on the lower floor. The garage door is very beautifully designed, and there are catapults on the roof, which is very different from the ordinary LEGO City garages in the past.
The garage also comes with a game function. With a simple turn of the gear, we can raise and lower the door at will to reveal the simple workshop garage inside. This is usually where part of the mech is stored, but it seems to be compatible with the small bicycle model from the previous LEGO NINJAGO City set.
We also saw some cute sticker element details, both inside and outside. We see a poster of Sora posing against Rosie the Riveter, a picture of the Ninjago dojo that looks like a travel poster, and a great movie poster. These are great additions to this otherwise rugged old wall.
3.Bedroom
Many homes have been reduced in size due to a lot of space being dedicated to mechs. This room is one of those examples. And yet it manages to fit a lot into a small space! This room is heavily hinted to be Zane's room, with his ice shuriken hanging on the wall, his LEGO NINJAGO Move vehicle on the table, and a picture of his creator, Dr. Julian.
I was also particularly fascinated by how the designers used books as part of the window wall - complete with removable blinds! Oddly enough, this is one of my favorite rooms - the stickers here are just gorgeous.
4.Dorama's Workshop
Dorama is a minor antagonist of the Ninjago in the latest seasons of LEGO Ninjago, and a famous pyrotechnician. His creations are either hoaxes or he collaborates with the series' main antagonist.
His studio is full of references to his evil creations – including a Dorama puppet on the roof. Inside the studio we also get to see some fun retro references; Cole’s old flying ship and even a skeleton clown Crazy.
The exterior poster for his studio also includes a lovely retro take on the classic System Ninja and Samurai sets that debuted before 2000.
5.Noodle Shop
The Noodle Shop is a really fun hidden gem in this set, my favourite being the minifigure scarf element. We see a small kitchen service space here, but we also see a chopstick holder, Fabulan poster and cute sticker elements. It’s a little gem that I think a lot of people won’t spot until they take a closer look at the final set.
5.Crane Area
The crane area in the model is more about function than form, with few aesthetic details that would be appropriate for a rugged construction area. The dark blue contrasting against the browns and greys of the city really highlights this. Admittedly, this is one of the less detailed sections and the signs are still working to make it more consistent with the city.
6.Pop Culture Shop
With a peace sign hanging from the mech, you know this place is going to be fun. Decorating the exterior of the model, we have a lot to look at. A reference to the Ice Planet 2002 logo, a lava tide with a gemstone. A reference to the universe's He-Man, and even a silhouette of Cole's latest mech.
Going inside the model, we can see Cole's mech, as well as the mechs available for purchase on the shelf. We also find various craft essentials here, such as scissors, paintbrushes, and paint samples.
The chopsticks in this space actually represent tweezers, which really shows how much of an enthusiast the LEGO team is.
