Many people enjoy visiting botanical gardens in their leisure time to experience the tranquility that nature brings. Now, LEGO's Botanical Garden set allows you to appreciate the beauty of nature without leaving your home.
This stunning and elegant 19th-century botanical garden model brings a variety of plants and animals into your home, creating a peaceful and warm atmosphere. To delve deeper into the design details, we interviewed the designers of The Botanical Garden set, Valentina Bima and Chris McVeigh, to hear their thoughts.
“I wanted to create a visually bright and welcoming structure to frame the plants and flowers within,” said Valentina Bima, the Italian creator behind the initial design, revealing her love for botanical gardens and their relaxed ambiance.
Chief designer Chris McVeigh wholeheartedly agrees with Valentina Bima’s vision, praising her detailed concept model as truly inspiring. Building on the original design, Chris creatively added numerous plants and trees, including date palms, eucalyptus, Japanese maples, ice cream tulips, hydrangeas, birds of paradise, anthuriums, pitcher plants, cacti, and more, all exuding a unique natural charm.
One of the standout features is the three removable roof sections. “The botanical garden has one of the largest fully-windowed roof structures we’ve ever built,” Chris noted. This not only achieves a classic appearance but also ensures the roof’s stability.
Compared to real botanical gardens, this LEGO Botanical Garden is equally impressive. You can personally experience the rich details and ambiance found in actual botanical gardens, enhancing your understanding of LEGO's pursuit of detail in design. Although some plants may not be perfectly replicated in LEGO, the brand conveys the forms of nature through creative building, resulting in a unique aesthetic expression.
Overall, the LEGO Botanical Garden is a beautiful, intricate, and enjoyable set.
Despite its price tag of $330, the number of pieces and the complexity of the design make it worth it. The model measures 8.5 inches (22 cm) in height, 20 inches (51 cm) in width, and 10 inches (25 cm) in depth, containing 3,792 pieces, making it a highly creative building project.
Whether you have a love for nature or an enthusiasm for LEGO building, this botanical garden set promises an exceptional experience.
